I’ve been appraising since 1985 when my mom, Sue Ellen Adams, talked me into becoming an appraiser for her business, Adams Appraisals. I remember hand writing my first appraisal and attaching a few Polaroid photos. My mom gave me great training and ethics and I was hooked from the beginning! What other career would allow one to observe properties, drive the area to look at other properties, perform an analysis comparing them, and then determine what properties are worth? My favorite properties are country and coastal! I really enjoy driving the comparables on those appraisals. My mom passed away in 1993 but Adams Appraisals lives on. Almost 40 years later I’m still enjoying the job and the freedoms.  I am involved in the North Bay chapter of the Real Estate Appraisers Association, where I was the Founding Secretary from 2007 to 2010.  I also served as the Corporate Secretary for the Real Estate Appraisers Association from 2009 to 2011.  In my spare time, I was an outdoor education docent with the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation for more than 10 years and I also enjoy skating, hiking, bicycling and kayaking with my husband Pete.  We have two grown children as well as four beautiful grandchildren.  Our son Brendan is a high school biology teacher and our daughter Alanya has worked with me at Adams Appraisals since 2011 and is now a certified residential appraiser.
